Mandurah Marathon 2014

Saturday 28 July saw the 3rd annual Mandurah Marathon dragon boat race take place on the beautiful Murray River. Sponsored by the Ravenswood Hotel and supported by the Lakers, Fremantle Swan, Denmark and Indian Ocean Dragon Boat Clubs.

Conditions were perfect for this 18km event - flat deep water and sunny bright blue sky. Buddhist monks from our local monastery blessed paddlers, boats and water which gave our event a traditional beginning.

The starters horn blew at 10am with 2 crews heading towards Mandurah while the other 2 boat crews headed towards Pinjarra.

After 1hr 41mins Lakers crossed the finish line first, followed closely by Fremantle Swan, Indian Ocean and Mandurah Dragon Boat Club.

Denmark Marathon 2014

Saturday 17 May 2014

A great weekend away was had by all. Mandurah Vikings paddlers attended the 20km Denmark Marathon dragon boat race held on the Wilson Inlet for a weekend of great paddling, food and social events.

Once again Denmark organised a fantastic event - perfect weather, water and people! Denmark DBC really out did themselves this year! Well done. 20km of calm water, under blue sky and surrounded by pristine forrest - AWESOME!

Forza Regatta Spectacular

Saturday 2 March 2014

An evening drive down to Bunbury to paddle in the Night Spectacular hosted by Forza was a visual feast for the eyes! Glow sticks, fluro and paddlers covered the foreshore and water.

Dragon boat raceing consisted of 180m sprints however the fastest teams weren't the winners. Prior to racing, teams had to submit a time they thought they could achieve. The winning team was the team who came the closest to their submitted time.

Mandurah Xmas Pageant 2013

Tuesday 10 December 2013

Watch out Mandurah! The Mandurah VIKING Dragon Boat Club is on the loose! Throwing lollies to the crowd, promoting Dragon Boating and having a great time all round. We were heard before we were seen - banging the drum, pumping music and yelling "Ramming speed!"

Thanks to the most EXCELLENT efforts of Mick and Brenda for their creative talents in morphing our boat into a Viking vessel and for our members for supporting this worthy event.
